Every year the Queensland Flute Guild Inc. presents the prestigious James Carson Memorial Trophy and Scholarship Competition with the support of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University.

This major flute event is held in memory of the Flute Guild’s founder, James Carson, who was Principal Flautist of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra for 23 years and Lecturer in Flute at the Conservatorium from 1957 until his death in 1979.

This year the Guild is proud to showcase the cream of Queensland’s most talented young flautists, who will demonstrate their expertise by competing for the Carson Trophy and a

 $1000 cash prize.
